To understand the importance of Datta Jayanti, any human being need to understand the purpose of life and try to understand the creation. To understand the same, one needs to read scriptures and it is same in any religion. The other easiest way is to follow a Guru. This is mentioned in every religion and followed by Lord Rama and Lord Krishna to show as a best example to the human kind.
In today's world (not to mention the times of Lord Krishna when Pondarika claimed himself to be an incarnation) where many "claim" to be Gurus, how can one identity the right Guru?
To enable humans to get out of such predicament, God himself has taken the form Dattatreya. He is an eternal Guru form that is available on this earth, however, in many forms if one can see. Some forms of Lord Dattatreya are - Sri Akkalkot Swamy, Sri Pada Sri Vallabha, Sri Narasimha Saraswati, Sri Shirdi Sai Baba. In today''s world, Sri Sai Master is such poorna dattavatara and HE is Acharya Ekkirala Bharadwaja.
