May 13, 2012 - A day dedicated to paying our gratitude with utmost sincerity to our Guru in the form of Holy book.
As Sri Shirdi Sai Baba said "those who sing my leelas, read about me or contemplate on me will become like me". This is nothing but realising the TRUTH or Brahman or whichever name we may choose to call. However, to enable human beings to do this, He came back in the form of the Holy Book and is helping us to be in His presence all through the day, and throughout our life.
The intent of this pooja to the Holy Book is one form of expressing our gratitude to "the One who came in another form to write about Himself" (the way Sri Guru came in the form of Siddha to recite Sri Gurucharitra to Namadharaka, who was yearning for it).
The function started with pooja to the Guru in the form of Holy books, followed by a satsang and ended on a high note with a Bhajan. While it was mentioned that the year will be dotted with such functions, the real intent is to make use of such Mahatmas in our midst to bring in the desired change within and around oneself for creating a better society. At a time, when spirituality is being confused with leaving everything and sitting idle, the real intent will be understood only when one starts dwelling in to such holy books which teach us how to live harmoniously in the world.
Preserving species, ecosystem to behaving right with the neighbours, our own family members, elders, kids and oneself is well taught by the deeds and words of Mahatmas and hence it is important to pay our reverence to them. May we make use best use of the presence of such Mahatmas in each and every house to become better human beings every day!
