Jai Sai Master!
It is quite common for everyone to idolize someone or some theory in life. Many consider that to be a very good motivating factor and also to benchmark against, to see how we are faring in our life. However, many a time, we fall woefully short of following the same. This could be either we have not understood the theory well or do not know the person well. In both the cases, we must dive deep to know more, as much as we can and start following with all sincerity, and with integrity.
In general, people talk about GOD and try to emulate them. But, we either grossly go wrong in understanding their deeds or use their names very inappropriately. This is quite common with Lord Krishna, whose name is associated with number of wives more than for HIS wonderful Bhagavadgita. This too very loosely without knowing the facts. Same is happening with Sri Sai Baba of Shirdi, to where lakhs flock to every week. However, how many care to follow what HE said or how HE lived? Sri Sai Master says in Sri Gurucharitra (telugu chapter 33), if one loves the GOD, then why they do not love what HE asked everyone to do or follow? Many a time in a day, this keeps hitting me again and again and for any such situation that reminds me of this line, a method or way of doing is given in Sri Sai Leelamrutam. However, when I start contemplating on such short comings, the doubt arises whether I sincerely love HIM or is it a superficial sham?
Many go to Shirdi for worldly desires fulfillment and the Omnipresent energy present there in the form of Sri Shirdi Sai Baba, does grant those boons appropriately. HE said, let those people come to me with those mundane desires and as they go up in life crossing a level , they will listen to what I am saying. However, we are so busy in making a list of desires (wants or needs, does not matter), where is the free time to listen?
If one looks at how Sri Sai Baba lived all HIS life, HE lived like a poor fakir, living in a dilapidated masjid, with a brick under HIS hand which served HIM as pillow in the night (HE said HE kept it as HIS Guru's remembrance), sat on a small elevated surface, used a torn gunny bag as bed sheet, distributed udi from the fire place (dhuni), and used a clay pot or tin sheet to collect food material. HE used to sit on a big stone in masjid (one can see the same in any standard Sai Baba photo). Sri Sai Master wrote that this Emperor lived all HIS life in the same manner and says all these are what this Emperor, who grants all and fulfills the worldly wishes and desires, really used in HIS daily life. This is a way to show the uselessness of materialistic world and is a subtle message to all flocking to HIM or looking up to HIM for happiness and peace. (From Sri Sai Leelamrutam written by Pujya Acharya Sri Ekkirala Bharadwaja)
In this year of Kritagnata Mahotsavam, may we pray Sri Sai Master to give us all courage to walk on the path showed by HIM to emulate HIM and fill everyone's life with happiness and peace.
Jai Sai Master!!
