Jai Sai Master!
Chivatam is a small village close to Tanuku, and there lived a lady by name Achhamma, who trasnformed in to an Avadhuta, and was later called as Chivatam Amma.
Once a person asked Amma, what is Tattvamasi. She immediately replied, burning of self. What SHE meant was when one loses the identify with I, then they get the realisation. This is exactly what Bhagavan Sri Ramana taught everyone who came to him.
Sri Chivatam Amma lived in the same way. She lived as a digambari (renounced clothing) all through HER life. She was known for her simplicity and lucidity while explaining. Surprisingly she had no formal education. This is one way of telling everyone, that to realise god, or the universal consciousness, one need not be a scholar. But pure in heart, compassionate and ever loving, and yearn for the realisation sincerely.
She used to meditate in graveyards and for those who asked her why she does that, the reply was - "so that I do not die". What she meant was, to get out of the life cycle of taking birth and dying. She never did any tricks or anything extraordinary to attract crowd. Infact, not many understood her state. Whatever she did, they were to save someone or to correct someone and they were all timely and happened very naturally. This is possible only one aligns with the universal consciousness to respond appropriately for protecting those who depend on them. Many such things happened with Chivatam Amma naturally. However, she attributed all those to Shirdi Sai Baba or Lord Rama, whom she used to pray continuously. She was, like a true mother, ever compassionate and loving. She used to feed anyone who came to see her.
She used to tell every one to keep chanting Rama Rama all the time. When someone said that they are not able to focus, she said, just keep repeating Rama Rama all the time internally and the mind will go all around, but will eventually will come back as there is no other go for it. She said, put the seed and plow. without plowing one can not reap the fruit of realisation and she said it so lucidly. (To read more on her, click here)
The aaradhana was celebrated at Nagole on 15-06-2013 and in the morning, the kids of Gurukulam performed puja to Avadhuta Sri Chivatam Amma. After puja, the parayana of Chivatam Amma book started and continued for one hour.
Again in the evening, in the presence of Divyajanani, the parayana continued for a couple of hours.
Divyajanani narrated the events of her meeting Chivatam Amma and Sri Sudheendra Babugaru. Sri Dwarakanath Jnaneswar did puja in the evening and gave aarti.
Divyajanani on the occassion of Chivatam Amma aaradhana asked all to read teachings of Chivatam Amma for next 11 days. The reading of her teachings and trying to follow, will help enormously everyone who is trying to walk on the path of spirituality.
May everyone read the holy book on Avadhuta Sri Chivatam Amma and understand her teachings to follow the same in their lives. May we pray Chivatam Amma to bless all the seekers to reach the goal of meeting their Guru soon in this life time.
